Covid-19 Updates

Coronavirus Community Updates

Stone Rehabilitation & Senior Living has been monitoring the evolving worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and preparing for the safety and well-being of our residents, staff, and visitors. We understand that visiting friends and family is an important part of maintaining relationships, however, we also recognize that the population we serve is amongst the most vulnerable. As a result, we are determined to limit contact of any infected persons with our residents and staff and are making modifications to our visitor policies based on CDC guidelines.

The risks of COVID-19 are greatly reduced when common-sense measures are consistently taken to limit contact and when we take the appropriate measures to manage universal infection control practices—on which all our staff at Stone Rehabilitation & Senior Living are routinely educated and trained on.

We have/are:

  • Having residents self isolate in their apartments or rooms
  • Cancelled communal dining and all group activities, such as internal and external group activities.
  • Implemented active screening of residents and staff for fever and respiratory symptoms.
  • Reminding residents to practice social distancing and perform frequent hand hygiene.
  • Screening all staff at the beginning of their shift for fever and respiratory symptom and actively taking their temperature and documenting absences, shortness of breath, new or change in cough, and sore throat. If they are ill, they will put on a facemask and self-isolate at home.
  • Helping residents communicate and connect with their loved ones during this time through virtual calls and regular phone calls.

Updated Visitor Guidelines

We are currently allowing for limited visitation to take place outside the community except for certain compassionate care situations, such as an end-of-life situation. In those cases, visitors (one at a time) will be limited to a specific room only.   For those essential health care personnel who can enter will be required to perform hand hygiene and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as facemasks, gloves and gowns.  We are communicating these guidelines to you in a separate communication.  If you have any questions please contact us.

For individuals that enter in compassionate situations (e.g., end-of-life care), we will require you to perform hand hygiene and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as facemasks. The decisions about visitation during an end of life situation will be made on a case by case basis so please contact the Executive Director.  In these situations, we will screen the visitor (including clergy, bereavement counselors, etc.) for fever or respiratory symptoms. Those with symptoms of a respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat) will not be permitted to enter the community at any time (even in end-of-life situations). Those visitors that are permitted, must wear a facemask while in the building and restrict their visit to the resident’s room or other location designated by the community. They will also be reminded to frequently perform hand hygiene.

If you had visited recently, please monitor for signs and symptoms of respiratory infection for at least 14 days after exiting the community. If symptoms occur, self-isolate at home, contact your healthcare provider, and immediately notify the community of the date you were in the community, the individuals they were in contact with, and the locations within the community they visited. We will then immediately screen the individuals of reported contact, and take all necessary actions based on findings.

Thank you for your help in keeping our residents and staff safe.
